Hi! I'm currently a second-year medical student at the University of Toronto and was also fortunate to interview and receive an offer from the University of Ottawa.
A little about me: I spent much of my childhood growing up in Malaysia, where weekends were often spent swimming, exploring night markets, trying new foods, and taking family trips around Southeast Asia. Living in such a diverse environment gave me the opportunity to meet people from many different cultures and perspectives, something I continue to value today. Outside of medicine, I love long-distance running, travelling with family and friends, and I'm always looking for new cafés and restaurants to try.
As the first person in my family to pursue medicine, I know just how competitive and challenging the admissions process can be. There is so much advice available that it's easy to lose sight of your own story or feel like you need to build the "perfect" application. Through my own journey, I learned what the admissions process is really about and how to present experiences in a way that is thoughtful, authentic, and memorable. More importantly, I learned that success isn't about checking every box, it's about understanding your strengths and communicating them with confidence.
That's the mindset I bring to mentorship. Whether we're working on your ABS, essays, Casper, or preparing for interviews, my goal is to help you develop an application that reflects WHO YOU ARE while giving you honest, personalized feedback every step of the way. I want this process to feel collaborative, encouraging, and far less overwhelming than it often seems.
One thing applicants often tell me they appreciate is my honest and constructive feedback. I won't simply tell you that something "looks good", I'll explain what I think is working, what could be strengthened, and why. My goal is to provide thoughtful, actionable advice based on my own experience and what I've learned throughout the process, while helping you refine your application without losing your authentic voice. I want you to leave every session feeling more CONFIDENT, with a clear understanding of your next steps and a stronger application than when you started.
I've noticed that many of the students who found the most success during the last application cycle reached out early. Starting sooner gives you the time to develop stronger ideas, refine your writing through thoughtful revisions, and approach the application process with much less stress. Waiting until deadlines are close often means rushing, which can increase anxiety and make it harder to fully develop your experiences and tell your story effectively. If you're considering working together, I encourage you to reach out early so we have the time to create the strongest application possible.
I also know how expensive this journey can be, so I've tried to keep my mentorship as accessible and affordable as possible.
Applying to medical school is an incredibly personal journey, and every applicant has a story worth telling. It would be a privilege to help you tell yours with honesty, confidence, and authenticity as you take the next step toward becoming a physician. 🤍
