Hello! My name is Dan, and I am a medical student at the University of British Columbia. Before medical school, I completed a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Neuroscience at the University of Alberta. During the third year of my undergrad, I earned a 519 MCAT score. Before medical school, I completed a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Neuroscience at the University of Alberta. During the third year of my undergrad, I earned a 519 MCAT score. I then applied to medical school and during my first application cycle I was fortunate to receive interviews at four Canadian medical schools: UBC, UOFA, UOFC, and Dal. I was ultimately accepted at UBC and waitlisted at Dal. This experience taught me how to critically evaluate every aspect of my application, seek meaningful feedback, and improve my written applications and interview skills. Those lessons ultimately helped me earn admission to UBC Medicine, and I hope to help you do the same.
A little about me: I love staying active, learning new things, and finding creative ways to connect with others. I've played soccer for over 17 years, and I currently coach a U13 boys' soccer team and referee for the Alberta Soccer Association. Outside of sports, I'm a self-taught guitarist and film/digital photographer, and I enjoy exploring new restaurants, working on fitness, and spending time with friends and family.
Teaching and mentorship have always been some of the most rewarding parts of my journey. As a UofA Students' Union tutor, I've spent 4 years working with high school and university students in math and science, helping them break down difficult concepts, develop effective study strategies, and build confidence in their abilities. I've also mentored younger athletes as a soccer coach and have always enjoyed helping others achieve goals they once thought were out of reach.
I know firsthand how overwhelming and competitive the Canadian medical school application process can feel. Whether you need help brainstorming meaningful experiences, editing written applications, developing your activity entries, preparing for the MCAT, CASPer, or interview season (MMI or panel), my goal is to provide honest, individualized feedback while helping you present the strongest version of yourself. I want every student I work with to feel confident walking into each stage of the application process.
Please don't hesitate to reach out! I'd love to learn more about your goals, answer any questions you have, and help you put together an application that genuinely reflects who you are.
