Hi! My name is Jeslin, and I’m an incoming DDS student at the University of Alberta. I completed my BSc Specialization in Psychology at the University of Alberta, along with a Research Certificate in Science and a Certificate in Sustainability.

My journey to dental school took two application cycles, so I understand firsthand how challenging and uncertain the process can feel. As an in-province applicant, UAlberta was my first choice, and I had the opportunity to interview there during both of my application cycles. I also interviewed at Western and achieved a fourth-quartile CASPer score in both application cycles, giving me firsthand experience with several different components of the dental school admissions process.

One of the hardest parts of applying for me was figuring out what admissions committees were looking for and learning how to effectively communicate my experiences through essays and application responses. Having gone through that process myself, I’d love to help other applicants with personal statements and essays, activity descriptions, and interview/MMI preparation. I particularly enjoy providing detailed essay feedback while helping applicants preserve their own voice and experiences. For interviews, I can help with MMI strategies, practice questions, follow-up questions, and working through different approaches to answering challenging scenarios. I spent months preparing for MMIs myself and am happy to share the strategies and lessons I learned along the way.

I’ve also had the opportunity to mentor a dental hygiene applicant with their application, including reviewing and editing their written responses. They were accepted to the University of Alberta Dental Hygiene program on their first application cycle!

Outside of school, you’ll usually find me building LEGO, playing the flute or piano, or trying something new in the kitchen. I know how overwhelming applying to a professional program can be, and my goal is to be the friendly older student I would have appreciated having during my own applications; someone you can ask questions, practice with, and receive detailed and supportive feedback from throughout the process.
