Hi there! I’m Kangyu, an MS1 at the University of Toronto.
I’m from Hamilton, Ontario and completed my HBSc, MSc in Earth and Environmental Sciences at McMaster. Before I went into medicine, I worked in forestry research with organizations like the World Wildlife Fund and Environment and Climate Change Canada. During the 2025–2026 application cycle, I was accepted into UofT, McMaster, UBC, UAlberta, and Memorial. I also interviewed and waitlisted at several other schools across Canada, including uOttawa and UCalgary.
Over the past few years, I’ve mentored undergraduate students through successful admissions into competitive graduate programs in Canada and the United States. Now, I’m excited to support you through your application journey to medical school! As someone who was a mature and non-traditional applicant, I have experience in tailoring unique experiences and activities towards the competencies that medical schools are looking for. Despite being a majority OOP or Non-Regional applicant, I successfully received interviews at many schools across Canada with various essay and written requirements. I would only consult for schools I have successfully interviewed at.
If you’re interested, I’m happy to provide a free 15-minute consultation to learn about your application needs and what I can do to help. Just send me a message!
