Hi everyone!
I'm Sowon, a 2nd-year medical student at Dalhousie University. I transformed from a mediocre applicant who had no idea how to properly prepare to securing acceptance on my second application cycle - proof that the right preparation can make the difference from a waitlist to an acceptance. My MCAT and GPA stayed the same, so the only changes I made were in my essays, extracurriculars, and interviews.

Hi everyone!
I'm Sowon, a 2nd-year medical student at Dalhousie University. I am confident that I can help you identify those areas of improvement in your application to give you a competitive edge for acceptance too! I’ll be happy to share my experiences when I was waitlisted versus accepted, and what my applications were like with you in detail. Since 2025, I worked with 16 students throughout the year through various platforms. I truly love mentoring, and I find it SO fulfilling to be able to help students going through the same struggles that I did before using the knowledge I gained.
I am very familiar with interviews (MMIs) for both pharmacy and medical school (from my own interviews, as well as experiences shared by upper-year med students who got in). I have also been a Dal PharmD MMI assessor in the past and mentored my own sister with her MMI prep, after which she got into pharmacy on her first try! I would love to use my extensive understanding of pharmacy and medical school MMI preparation to help you with yours too!
After having med students as mentors guiding me on interviews and essays, I accumulated a wealth of knowledge and resources from them, in addition to my own research and experiences. I developed a comprehensive understanding of what’s important in an application to make it stand out and reach its fullest potential. Some examples include how to reframe your extracurricular descriptions, how and what to incorporate in your essays, and how to tailor your answers for different MMI question types. Since I just went through the entire application process recently, all the knowledge is very fresh in my brain!
I would love to share all the tips, insights, and resources (including PDF files) I have gained until now on how to write better essays, what areas you can improve on in your current and future application cycles, and how to better answer MMI interview questions. Starting off as an applicant who was completely lost, having no idea what to do in my first application cycle, I know how daunting the entire process is. I also know how much of a difference my mentors made for me, and I want to have that same impact on you too. Let me help you succeed in your application and get into the school you want too! Please feel free to shoot me a message, and I hope to work with you soon :)

Really helpful session. The feedback was clear, specific, and easy to apply right away. I especially appreciated that we went through my actual responses and focused on how to make my reasoning more complete and natural rather than relying on memorized frameworks. I left with a much better understanding of where I tend to rush to conclusions, when to gather more information, and how to balance empathy, accountability, and escalation. I would definitely recommend this session to anyone preparing for CASPer.

Sowon was incredibly kind, caring, and helpful throughout my application process. She helped me reflect more deeply on my experiences, and I really appreciated how detailed and thoughtful her feedback was. She genuinely wants you to succeed and goes above and beyond to support you, even taking the time to go over our scheduled session. I’m very grateful for all of her guidance and would highly recommend working with her!

Sowon was amazing in guiding me to make my answers more focused, purposeful, & engaging. She encouraged me to be more specific and reflect on activities to best fill out my Dal ABS descriptions. Additionally, she was great at recognizing weaknesses & helping me address all the elements needed in my essays. I’m glad I had the opportunity to work with such a kind & caring consultant, her comments made a big difference!
